Happy {Working—Insert Sadface} Weekend

This Friday is unlike the rest because due to my staycation last week, I'll be hitting those working hours all weekend long.
But I'm sure we can still find a little reason to celebrate. Shall we?
The skies are clear and the temps are a fabulous seventy degrees, so it's hard to be less than content though you're to-do list may be a mile long like mine. And after some deep thoughts and talking the topic to death, I'm prepping for a big announcement coming soon that I've been contemplating and praying about for quite some time. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, it wouldn't be Friday without a few Fabulous Finds, so without further adieu, what caught my attention this week:
  • Preach it sister—Melanie Duncan outlines her top three strategies for success (I like success) as gathered from  her entrepreneurial clients. Making a mental note to remember these starting now.
  • And speaking of entrepreneurs, I was smitten upon reading this love note to them.
  • Whitney has a way of speaking cold hard truth in the funniest fashion (and they tend to speak to me alot), and I think we all have a "flight" we should remind ourselves to stay humble about.
  • My mother would kill me and my father would groan but I almost impulse bought one of these watercolor hydrating masques that turn your hair a hot hue for 2-5 days. How much fun for a music festival or halloween? But I seem to remember learning my lesson with semi-permanent hair dye once...
  • Lastly, I. am. addicted. To these. Every morning. And I'll be posting my twist on the recipe next week for you to try out as well (keywords: sweet additions).
That about does it. We have a standing date here on Monday. Happy weekend, dears!
Daily gratitude: More leaps of faith and opportunity.

Happy {Sunshine on the Beach} Weekend

I'm welcoming the weekend with rather dreary skies, but perking up considerably looking at the cloudless beach weekend the weather channel has on the agenda. Don't mind if I do.
I don't have much to report about this week. It's been rather slow but sometimes those sorts are needed. This weekend, though, is the first in quite some time I'll have lounging on the beach doing nothing— I foresee lots of reading and mimosas in my immediate future, but with special company in town to entertain I know they'll be no shortage of plans. Until then, your weekend reading for my Friday Finds:

  • I'm really into this post via The Beauty Department that taught me what size curling iron to use for which type curls. I can't tell you the number of times I've been disappointed with my outcome simply do to the iron. This site is just where it's at in terms of beauty.
  • I'm always getting caught eyeing knockout closets, so I loved this advice via The Effortless Chic on how to use your closet space to max potential. Now, someone give me a walk-in....
  • First of all, how much do I love Brian Atwood? Second of all, how much did I love this Brian Atwood feature on The Coveteur? That's right—a lot.
  • Since I'm all healthy and stuff (HA) I've been obsessed with The Fitnessista. She has the best clean eating + workout tips + style reviews out there, with a precious personality to match. And perk—her behind-the-scenes fam is adorable. Check her out.

And that wraps the week, friends. Have a lovely one!
Daily gratitude: Weekend visitors and reading lists.

{Exhale}
There's some big stuff going down this weekend, turns out. Will you keep this chicken wimp in your thoughts and prayers?
Until then, a few lovely things that have distracted me:

Hope this weekend is fill with peace and plans!
Daily gratitude: grace.

Happy {On the Run} Weekend

Dashing in ever so quickly this morning as I sprint out of town for another weekend packed full of celebratory events, fun, and many of my best friends.
I feel like I've been living life on the fly these days, but it seems different this time. Maybe because it's chock full of little joys and I'm able to live a bit differently on my own terms. Nonetheless, this spring is shaping up to be quite the long-term R&R I ordered.
Pardon me for skipping my Friday Finds of good reads from the week- I'll be sure to include on Monday.
Until then, happy weekend dear friends!

Daily gratitude: road trips and reunions.

Happy {Easter} Weekend

Happy Good Friday, friends!

I'm, sadly, not venturing home to my clan this weekend to celebrate the holiday. I've heard from most that their Easter festivities are a little lacking compared to most holidays, but that just means you've never met my mother—I've learned to celebrate life from the best. So, while I'm trying my hardest not to pout and stomp my feet, I'm focusing on celebrating the weekend that changed the whole world.
(Great tutorial for these here)
I have some quality Ainsley time scheduled, as it's been a while since I've spent a quiet weekend here at the beach. And with this uncharacteristically chilly March weather finally peaking in the 70s this weekend, I think a little sunning is in order. Pair that with an early Easter service and brunch with other nomad-friends, and you have yourself my weekend.
Today, I'm starting something a little new here on from Ainsley, with love. The most appealing thing about the blogosphere, no matter how large or small your presence within it, is the intense sense of community within it. The comments. The emails. The encouragement. And while it increasingly seems like everyone is doing it, it truly is a space that can be all your own despite that. Your own little slice of life that likeminded people may enjoy. Oh, the countless times I've wished I could do this for a living. Create original content. Write and post multiple times a day. More, more, more. But as that goal is not yet attainable, I curate. I curate the most inspiring content, the most helpful, the loveliest—you get the picture. And in doing that, I'd like to give even more credit where credit is due to the people behind what touches me—the bloggers themselves. So, on Fridays, I'd like to round up my Friday Finds in a different way, directing you to the bloggers' whose posts that week have resonated with me for whatever reason. So, without further adieu, this Friday's Finds:
That about wraps it up, peeps (no pun intended. Ok, yeah right).
Here's to a Happy Easter Weekend!
Daily Gratitude: That He died so we may live, then rose again in our rebirth.

Happy {Simple} Weekend

This week has felt like a new season has finally dawned. The ice cream truck is running 'round the neighborhood, beach towels are hanging from balconies, and the weather finally decided it would settle in for spring. There's something in the air that has me, for the first time in a little while, so happy and excited and filled with hope that I find myself checking my circumstances every so often just to ensure that all really is as it seems. The sunny skies and bright blooms must be going to my head because even the smallest of details have been utterly inspiring.
So, I'm planning on spending the weekend soaking up these simple little joys. Which is what led me to compiling this group of Friday Finds—sweet little details sure to bring a smile to your face.

  • I've had a hard time jumping on the greek yogurt trend (something about the texture), but I'm going to give this sweet recipe a chance to change my opinion.
  • Though it's not quite summer, the living is already easy, so go ahead and give yourself that dewey glow with this bronzer tutorial, which is just what you need if you want to try out this perfectly glowey face
  • Loving this punchy bikini—the almost neon pink paired with the big ruffle is the perfect middle ground between sexy and cute.
  • I can't quit looking at this photo. That smile. That dress. Sometimes a pretty picture is all you need for quiet moment of inspiration.
  • Seeing as I'm not the most adept in the kitchen, I literally clapped when I saw this genius trick using a potato peeler.
Here's to hoping your weekend is full of simple inspirations, as well.

Happy {March is Here} Weekend

Ahh, March, I've been waiting a month for you.
I knew February was going to be tough with all the changes taking place around these parts, so I waited for March with big eyes and a big heart, for sunny days when the waves would subside. And here we are. Welcome, spring.
And even more, on a Friday—a beautiful happenstance of the first spring weekend together. So, a few fabulous Friday Finds for this serendipitous meeting, full of color and spring cheer:

  • A neon statement piece on super sale at Kate Spade
  • Bright eyes and poppy lips for an evening out here. And speaking of lips, make it stay this way.
  • A wanderlust coffee table book I'm dying to get my hands on here
  • A just do it reminder here
  • The prettiest and simplest spring arrangement here
Here's to bringing in March in the best way!

Happy {Wedding} Weekend

Today is my Friday! Why is it my Friday, you ask? Because I’ll be shimmying into a bridesmaid gown to celebrate this beaut on Saturday.
That’s right, Betsy’s getting married.

Betsy was one of my college roommates. She’s been destined for marriage life since she could walk—this girl can throw a party, decorate a room, or host a dinner at the drop of a hat. And talk about having the sweetest heart around. So it was no surprise to us that Collin wanted to marry her as soon as he laid eyes on this sweet little gem.

So, in what is sure to be the chicest and most stylish wedding in Rosemary Beach, Fla. to date, we’ll be celebrating the lovely couple all weekend long—starting tonight. So, because of my short week, I’ve rallied up a few fabulous Friday Finds a bit early—consider your weekend an early start with me.
  • Though I’d rather be nowhere but the wedding this weekend, I’m still homesick for NYFW that began yesterday. This great article made my fashion obsession feel better. Then, this piece made me crack up for being a broke, confused twenty-something. Wins all around.
  • My bridesmaids dress is steamed, my nails are painted a neutral-like lavender, and now for the wedding hair—with a strapless chiffon gown, I’m thinking of going a little romantic with this or this.
  • Speaking of weddings—this gown literally made me gasp. Now, for a fiance (or, uh, boyfriend?).
  • In honor of the festivities, a good weekend mantra to keep in mind for a little fun here.
  • And in preparation for another upcoming celebration, this Valentines girlfriend soiree looks like so much fun—I’d contribute these to the menu.
Have a blissful weekend my friends—we’ll be marrying off our best friend down here.

Happy {Moving} Weekend

Happy Weekend, kiddos.
We’ve got blueblueblue skies down here at the beach, and 70 degree temps (what?). So, I’ll be fighting the urge to stay on the beach all day and continue my moving preparations. As I mentioned here, I’m looking for some small-space decorating solutions for the new carriage house and would appreciate any tips you could send my way!

In the meantime, there’s still fun to be had amidst the boxes organizing, including my beach bestie’s 26th birthday party, finally seeing Les Mis, and going for a quick looksie at my favorite photographer’s new baby (welcome to the world, Ellsyan!). I’ll also be making time to get to the barre (Pure Barre, obvs) to continue to undo this holiday damage, and perhaps a few beach strolls will be in order.

So, until Monday dawns again, a few fabulous Friday Finds that have me particularly inspired for the new place:
  • This desk DIY? Yes, it’s totally happening. If I could, I’d spray paint everything gold. Midas, much?
  • And while we’re at it, how precious are these gilded mugs that are taking the Pinterest world by storm.
  • I’m going for something like this to organize accessories in an unused bookshelf.
  • Totally un-house related and totally Olivia related, my icon does it again and Who What Wear tells you how.
Happy Friday, dears!

Happy {Nashville} Weekend

And here I go again, packing up to jet-set across the Southeast again. (I’ve never been very good at packing a carry-on, fyi). Nashville calls. Or, better yet, this sparking engagement diamond does.

Meet Betsy. Betsy is one of the special few I am very lucky to call a best friend. Betsy is also the lucky girl to become a dazzling bride at Rosemary Beach next month in what is sure to be one of the most fabulous affairs this season. And I. Can’t. Wait. So, Nashville calls our sentimental group of soul-sisters to celebrate this bride-to-be this weekend, and I can’t think of a better way to spend my first weekend of the new year. And because it would be very un-bachelorette of me to divulge any of the festive details, I’ll simply say my carry-on is packed with enough dazzle for Vegas and it really stressed me out to have to leave my liquid toiletries at home—thanks, airport security.
In the meantime, a few Friday Finds for our first weekend of 2013 to inspire this brand-new year before us:
  • Still haven’t made your resolution? Never fear, a few lovely life-inspired resolutions here.
  • I can’t get this outfit out of my head. Adore. And this one, too—perfect for beach life right now.
  • Have I mentioned I’m planning an upcoming move this month? Simply switching homes,  but what a perfect moving survival guide— tips, and tricks to moving by a professional organizer. Fits right in with my “live a more organized life” resolution.
  • Searching for the right occasion to try this hairstyle. And I think I have just the Gatsby-inspired party in May to do so.
  • Ah ha—gym hair be gone! Now a reason I can go to happy hour after my 5 p.m. workout.

Hope you all have a fabulous 2013 weekend in store—start it off on a good note!

Happy {19 Days Until Christmas} Weekend

Well I’m a little late in the game today, wishing you a fantastic Friday for the start of your weekend.
It’s been one of those weeks,  but I’m being taught a great lesson at looking at the positives and not dwellings on the what-ifs and have-nots. So, I've turned all my love and affection into promoting holiday cheer.
Shocker.
Christmas is on the full-time agenda down here in Florida for the weekend—I’m currently begging my friends to take me up on my multiple offers for cookie exchanges, Christmas light cruises, and tacky Christmas parties. After all...

So, to help promote the festive season, I have a few Friday Finds I’ll be employing to the best of my abilities to turn the Scrooges I’m dealing with into sure-fire Christmas elves.

  • The perfect tree decorating party playlist...
  • And the perfect tacky Christmas party (my favorite kind!) playlist
  • What’s that? You said you needed a Christmas cocktail for your parties? Got you covered here.
  • And while you’re at it, go ahead and order this to wear.
  • And don’t forget to put finding your perfect red on the list of holiday attire this Christmas.
Happy 19 Days until Christmas!

Happy {First December} Weekend

December is tomorrow. Wow. Wasn’t I just wearing my bathing suit cover up and eating popsicles on the balcony?
The season is here, my friends, and I am thrilled. December holds precisely my two favorite holidays—Christmas and New Year’s Eve. That’s right—both of my favorite holidays are this month. And I am one. happy. girl.
So, I’m practically wringing my hands in anticipation of posting gift guides, party ideas, and, of course, tons of outfit inspiration for the one million reasons we have to celebrate in a thousand different ways this month. Because that’s what it is all about, right? Celebrating His birth, and the gifts we are bestowed in the form of family, friends, loved ones, thanksgivings, and a fresh, sparkly start to a brand new year.

So, a few Friday (Pinterest, mainly) Finds where I’ve drawn inspiration for what to give, how to entertain, and what to wear as we gear up for December:
Happy Friday!

Weekend Ramblings From the Ghost Girl

There is one thing I have not been good at for the past month. That is updating this blog.
There are, though, a few things I've been really good at for the past month. Those are:
  • Head bobbing and shoulder shimmying everywhere to Taylor Swift's new Red album.
  • Practicing my new French audiobooks.
  • Creating secret Christmas gift boards on Pinterest for the fam. That you can't see, so I can't link it here. (Aren't the new secret Pinterest boards fantastic?)
  • Shopping for new booties. Just purchased these, after much dilemma and denial over these and especially these.
Yep, all those things I've pretty much perfected in my free time—very important things, as you can see. Aside from my newfound hobbies, I've been down in the Big Easy shooting for the March/April issue of VIE this week. A whirlwind trip meant three nights at the luxurious Roosevelt hotel, where we spent our time getting to know Ashley Longshore (my newest obsession, her modern pop art infuses so much personality I was almost bent over laughing—not to mention she's crazy cool and perhaps the funniest person I've ever met) and the precious, could-be-my-BFF girls behind the Jolie and Elizabeth line (I want to drink champagne with them every day + our makeup artist from the shoot.) Mix that with the most fine dining experience I've ever experienced at Stella!, a few nights out listening to brass bands in smoky lounges, and a quick run through Saks for these babies, and I had myself quite the business trip. Look for all of the above in an upcoming issue of VIE.

So here I am, settled back into beach life after a lovely break away to find that surprise! Thanksgiving is next week. Hello, darlings, how did that happen?
Life is so quick. And for that I am thankful.
I used to be the number one person to be melancholy when I noticed that life was passing by quickly. Always the sappy sentimentalist, I wanted to hold on to moments, to anything I could that would keep me in a moment, a day, a month where I was so very happy. Until I realized that, if life was passing quickly, that was all the time.
Life happens fast when we're satisfied, filled up near the top of contentment. When your days begin to drag slowly, when minutes are hours or the day never seems to end—that's the concerning passage of time when something most likely needs to change. But when a day passes in a blink or a month flies by, despite hectic schedules, dissatisfaction with a situation, or whatever your "complaint" may be, you're actually one of the lucky ones.
So, I'm thankful that my life happens fast. (Hold me to that, Mom.)

So, I'll wrap up this post of miscellaneous comments and stories with a few Friday Finds in case you should find yourself in a nesting weekend much like mine ahead. I'll be doing some writing, using some crafty hands and planning for the upcoming holiday season. Thanksgiving will be the Theme of Ainsley's Life next week and, as one who often skips right past this fantastic holiday in leu of Christmas and New Year's Eve planning, I'm going to attempt to pay a bit more attention to gratitude giving. A few things that are on my agenda, holiday-related and not:
Happy Friday lovelies, enjoy your pre-Thanksgiving weekend!
xoxo

Happy {Wedding Part Une} Weekend

Friday, Friday, FRIDAY.
I love you so much.
I've said a thousand times, October at the beach is my absolute favorite time. It's warm during the day and crisp and cool at night—perfect to grab a cozy sweater to top off your suit after the sun begins to dip down from a day in the sun on the beach. This weekend will be filled with lots of that, as well as a lot of celebration as my dear, sweet friend Shelley gets married! So before wedding bells ring, we'll be doing a little celebrating at a few different parties before the big day.
Not spending the weekend on the beach? Don't worry, I've got you covered. A few Friday Finds to fill all that sweet extra time you've got on your hands this weekend:

Here's to hoping your weekend is fabulous and fun!

Happy {Nothing} Weekend

Finally.
It seems I've been awaiting this weekend for quite some time. When I finally get home this evening, I'll be taking full advantage of a weekend itinerary full of, well, nothing. Isn't that exactly what the soul needs every so often?
Of course nothing doesn't actually mean nothing, as I'll be checking some ever-present items off the old to-do list, preparing for the upcoming holiday, and basking in some October sun while a tan is still there to nab.
A few Friday Finds to enhance your weekend, and mine as well:
  • Pumpkin carving is definitely on the agenda this weekend. Wait, did I say carving? I meant metallic pumpkin painting, as seen here.
  • I need a new fall manicure a bit more subtle than the blue hue I'm sporting right now. This one via Camille Styles (my role model) looks like the perfect pretty paint job.
  • I'll also be getting my Halloween costume together this weekend. Hint: it involves purchasing these.
  • Currently on the hunt for interesting vintage silk scarves to wear in this weekend fashion.
  • This video for Facebook. Told you I'm a sucker for sap—especially when it concerns mankind. Watch it here.
Happy Friday!

Happy {Fashion Week} Friday

See ya friends.
I'm NYFW bound.
I'll be on location for work and updating over at VIE's blog this week, so I plan on popping in here to share a few stories and faces with you along the way as well. You can actually keep up with me a few different ways: VIE magazine's blog, Facebook page, and Twitter.

In the meantime, who has some good recommendations for where we should dine/dance/shop? Stay tuned—this beach girl is about to get city-styled.

Happy Friday!

Happy {I've Been Waiting All Week For It} Weekend

Hap. py. week. end.
Finally.
Let's go ahead and wrap this one up pretty quickly, shall we? The good news is, I found some great stuff for your weekend this week. Without further adieu, some really fantastic Friday Finds:

Yay for Friday!

Happy {Rainy} Weekend

It's been raining, raining, raining here on the coast—I think for almost a month straight, save the random sunny afternoon we may have been generously blessed with here and there. This weekend isn't looking to be much different, so I've planned accordingly with a Friday friend dinner in, Saturday bookstore browsing and craft day, and lots of new movies to be watched and books to be read in bed.
Sounds cozy, huh? I suppose a rainy weekend can be good for the soul.
A few Friday Finds for what is hopefully your sunnier weekend:

  • The Annie Griffin Collection. I made a list of about ten things I want from the Fall and Holiday collections. Stay tuned for an upcoming post!
  • These funky tuxedo pants. Such a steal and could be styled a million ways.
  • While we're talking styling, I'm dying to put together this exact outfit. J'adore. And do you know what I imagine to be on her feet? These shoes I'm dying to get my hands on.
  • Ok, on to food. I'm introducing some of my Florida friends to a classic Mississippi dish tonight: fried green tomatoes. While I'll be using mama's recipe, this one sure does look good, as well.
  • Goal for the weekend? Find a new agenda book. Seeing as how picky I am with planner specifications (I have to have lots of room to write and boxes for organization), if I don't find one Saturday, I'm ordering this one. And no, I don't want to just use my iPhone. I like to write things down. Any recommendations out there?
  • Obsessed with this pretty and feminine place setting—lovely is the one word to describe it.
Hope you have a cozy weekend on your agenda!

Happy {Home} Weekend

It's a dreary Florida morning today, calling for a big steaming cup of coffee, some Van Morrison on Pandora, and red lipstick to brighten the day, because nothing will get in the way of the excitement I'm feeling.
Know why? Because I'm going home.
That's right—I'm throwing the pooch in the back seat and setting sail through the South to head back to good 'ole Mississippi for a long weekend away. Summer on the seaside is thrilling, filled with a certain excitement that keeps you going long past the sunset. Which is the precise reason I am longing for a little R&R, from work and play, on the front porch of my childhood home, drinking a glass of wine at dusk with the magnolia tree shielding us slightly from the sun and, if I know my mom, some James Taylor on the sound system.
Sounds like a dream.
I hope you're looking forward to your weekend plans as much as I am, but a few Friday Finds to help you on  your way:
  • For all you jewelry fanatics—I literally gasped when I found these earrings. It's like stealing!
  • Breakfast is my favorite meal, and this is one thing I'm looking forward to trying to talk Mom into making this weekend for old times sake.
  • A little shopping is on the agenda for the weekend, as I'll be looking for these staples I wrote about previously, but I'll also be scouring antique shops for a vintage cake stand after seeing how cute they are used in the home here and here.
  • Who needs a reason for new luggage? Because I'm going absolutely bananas over this brand.
  • Alert alert! Today makes the start of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Bye bye bank account, and be still, my heart, over this fabulous find.
Happy Friday lovelies!

Happy {Friday the 13th} Weekend

Friday the 13th—eek! I'm not actually a very superstitious person, but I do believe in signs. Which is why when I didn't spill my coffee on the counter while pouring it this morning, I knew it was going to be a very good day and start to my weekend.

On the agenda: a dinner date with the girls tonight, an early Saturday morning visit to my Pure Barre studio, some quality time on the beach with my current read, and our traditional Sunday brunch. The best part? My best friend Haley is scooting through town on her way home from Orlando to spend the night with moi, and there are some much needed heart-to-hearts to be had while on the beach, drinking wine, and whipping up delicious treats. I hope you have great things in store for your weekend, but until then, a few Friday Finds to help it:

Happy weekend dears!
