The challenge? To incorporate the upcoming looks in a budget-friendy way with existing pieces of my beach wardrobe.
Things to consider?
- September in New York is hot, while everyone is still trying to incorporate the newest fall fashions into the runway show attire.
- Comfort, while still looking good, really is key for those twelve hour days.
1. A leather skirt.
Wear with: A simple tee, a statement necklace, strappy sandals/pumps, long shoulder bag, and red lips.
Requirements: Great fit with flattering lines, pretty (faux) leather at an affordable price.
2. Statement dress.
Wear with: Strappy sandals, contrasting nails, simple jewelry, oversized clutch, and a leather jacket.
Requirements: Classic shape, structured form with flattering lines, a bold spring-to-fall color.
3. Tailored blazer.
Wear with: Anything, but for Fashion Week, dressy shorts, statement shoes, a silk top, matching gold cuffs, and contrasting clutch.
Requirements: White tuxedo blazer or anything that coordinates with black: maroon, cobalt, aqua or green. Fitted shape.
4. Graphic tee.
Wear with: Dress down chiffon skirts by pairing it with this type of tee and a bold statement necklace, or with the above colored blazer.
Requirements: At the expense of this being cheesy, I'm sticking with a white tee with black writing, and preferably 'saying' something in French.
4. The classic two-strap sandal.
Wear with: Anything. Seriously. Any of the above outfits.
Requirements: Black or a color that will act as a neutral. The neon's below are cool, but sensible—no.
5. The New Yorker.
Wear with: Whether a chic shift or a flattering blouse and pencil pants combo, this duo is classically 'New York.' Be sure to incorporate something shocking, whether by way of leather pants or statement shoes. Wear with red nails or lips, sky-high heels, and an oversized tote.
Requirements: chic, flattering with good lines.
